Lori's love for drawing and painting began at an early age, which encouraged her to select art as her major in high school and college. As a young artist she won several awards in the local community, and was influenced by the known artist, Walter Foster, while visiting his art studio in Laguna Beach, California.
While attending college classes in Santa Monica and Venice, California, she had great interest in portraits and still life. Her medium was oil and acrylic. After her move to Sonoma County she attended art classes at Santa Rosa Jr. College. Her life as a single parent gave her little time to continue her interest in art... however, now that she is retired, remarried and living in the beautiful Sierra Mountains, her desire to get back to painting has increased tremendously.
Lori has since changed her medium to watercolors of which she is extremely passionate. Her subjects are a wide range of landscapes, still life, portraits, and flora's. The beauty in the surrounding community, the love of her gardening has all been an inspiration and is apparent in her watercolors.
Her work can be seen at the Firehouse Gallery in Murphys. She has shown her work at the Ironstone Winery Gallery in Murphys, the Prestidge Gallery in Angels Camp and at the Art and Soul Gallery in Arnold. She has won first and second awards at the Calaveras County Fair and tied for third place for “Peoples Choice” award at the Golden Palette fall exhibit in Murphys.
Lori is presently a member of the Golden Palette Art Association, the Arts of Bear Valley Association, and part owner of Firehouse Gallery in Murphys, California.
